Kurunami Seiyo

Kurunami Seiyō draws inspiration from the indigo brushstrokes and arabesque motifs of Tobe ware. Using a circular weaving technique, bamboo strips spiral continuously, tracing the flowing textures of space. Here, bamboo and ceramics are placed side by side in dialogue, linking regional craftsmanship with contemporary expression. The work translates “rebirth” and the continuity of memory into a dynamic form that can be read again and again, inviting viewers to sense the rhythm of the materials as they move. It does not end as a vessel, but continues to respond to the land and to time through the ongoing creation of form and meaning.
